  • Assess: Evaluate your current skills and identify gaps to achieve your objectives—whether switching industries or aiming for a promotion, look for the professionals you want to connect with;
  • Explore: Understand the trends and opportunities in your target industry or the promotion process at your current company, build your network with professionals and alums in your area of interest;
  • Prepare: Update your resume, LinkedIn, and other materials to showcase your skills and experiences from before and during your program, keep up with your networking and new relationships;
  • Apply: Take action and immerse yourself in networking, events, conferences, competitions, projects and other experiences while at school to build your skills and when you are ready start applying to jobs or internship.

Remember employer hire based on 3 key factors:

Qualifications

Do you have the skills to do or learn the job?

Motivation

Why do you want to do this particular job/intern at this company?

Fit

How do you work (use the skills needed) and will it fit our team and company?

Keep these in mind as you navigate your career path, whether looking for a promotion, switching industries, or starting fresh. Take a look at our articles, resources, videos and more to help you out.
