Considerations For Negotiation

When reviewing salary offers it is helpful for students to review the statistics about the average starting salary of graduates, as well as salary based on the location for the job and what other companies are offering.

We discuss the type of company the student is going to, their market value based on research, and the justification they can offer of the value they are bringing to the company. Although a student’s personal budget concerns are important for them to consider internally, their justification for the employer needs to be based on value added.

Also don’t forget about non-salary negotiables! If they can’t move on your salary there are other factors they may be willing to negotiate!
